Belonging

One little stripy branch of a feather can be just that - little stripy branch. Together with the rest of sister branches, the stripes turn into a pattern. They hold a purpose.

One little stripy feather on it is own is just that - a feather. Together with all other feathers of a bird they become part of living organism, they have a function and a purpose. The little stripe on a branch of a feather however small contributes to the completeness of the whole system. So the bird can fly, and be what it is meant to be in the reach diversity of Earth.

Belonging can be denied to us on some level. By parents, community, school, friends. But on another level, just like each little stripe of a feather, each of us belongs undeniably to the whole system of our beautiful planet, contributing to its completeness and its purpose.
